Collins, Allen G.

Research Zoologist

My research focuses on the biodiversity and evolutionary history of cnidarians (jellyfishes, corals, etc.) and sponges. I document species ranges and use genetic and morphological data to delimit species. In addition, I generate and use evolutionary trees, known as phylogenetic hypotheses, to better understand how the amazing biodiversity of these groups -- in terms of morphology, life history, and genetics -- has come to be.
