Professional Biography

  • I study the evolutionary biology of Hymenoptera, especially Aculeata (bees, ants, stinging wasps), with particular focus on phylogenomics, genomics, systematics, historical biogeography, and social evolution. I also study co-evolutionary interactions between Hymenoptera and their symbionts (in the broad sense), including other arthropods, fungi, bacteria, and pollinated angiosperms. Additionally, I am interested in applications of genomic and other large-scale data to biodiversity questions using natural history collections.
