Archaeological surveys continued in Hamilton Inlet, Labrador, with studies of the southern coast of Groswater Bay, the Backway, the northeastern shore of Lake Melville, and St. John Island. Finds included 6600 year old Maritime Archaic structures, a 1000-year old Indian Ramah chert biface reduction site, an early 20th century copper mine on Black Island, winter Inuit-European settlements, and the only known 17/18th century Inuit winter dwelling in eastern Lake Melville.
