This paper describes an archaeological collection made by Jeff Martin of Cartwright, Labrador, at the Martin site near the mouth of the North River. Its side-notched points, end-scrapers, chipped drills, round-based knives, and celts replicate materials from Saunders phase Indian sites of the Intermediate period on Labrador Indian history, ca. 3500-2800 BP. The Saunders Phase appears to establish the beginning of the ancestral Innu tradition following the disappearance of the Maritime Archaic tradition of 8000--3500 BP.
